Young Artist Initiative - Celebrating Art and Technology

Latvia-born singer and model Viktoria Modesta

As a lover of Art & Technology, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to check out Young Artist Initiative's latest installment. This month, countless local Artist's took up the challenge of addressing Technology's role and impact on the Arts and our constantly evolving Culture. The Artist's blended visuals and metaphorical elements - in order to present a personal representation of the matter through their selective mediums and produced interesting and colorful works of Art.

ArtBasel 2015 - TOP 5 Basel Events to Experience

Cue the base (singing) "Every day i'm Basel-ling..." With so many events popping up around town it's kind of hard to keep up with the who, what and where. Miami peeps go into full blown Art Fever the first week of December; it's our way of ringing in the Holidays...Miami style. It is said that Art ... "is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. In retrospect, Art is not only meant to be seen...but also... to be felt & experienced.

Here are my TOP 5 Basel Events to experience:

Coral Gables shutting it down for Giralda Under the Stars

As someone with creative vision, I tend to find Art in everything....even food. Cooking is a skill, not my best skill, but those those who have mastered that skill have developed the ability to turn food into Fine Dining, which requires Artistic effort and appreciation which includes presentation. Get ready to experience "Dining Under The Stars", presented by Zacapa Rum - dining al fresco series.

Cubart with Aniel La Rosa Abascal

Residents strolling through Domino park during Viernes Culturales (Cultural Fridays)

So my husband and I have this ritual... we like to go out on walks in the middle of the night and somehow our walks always end at the register at our nearest McDonald's (enter snickers and giggles here). My older brother would rather die before touching the stuff (he's an Army Medic) but i'm addicted to my McChicken and fries. The McDonald's is about 6 blocks away from our home, definitely a reasonable walking distance located in the most trafficked tourist area of 8th street (Calle Ocho), and it's on the same block as Domino Park. As soon as you hit Calle Ocho you can feel the booming rhythms of traditional cuban music escaping the local restaurants with their doors wide open and strategically placed Congo players in full view through the doorways as you walk by. It's kind of hard to resist breaking out into a dance number as you walk by, and i've seen plenty of folks give in.
